So we made it! We are currently sitting on a very hard bed in our small rented apartment in Ho Chi Minh City. It's 6:18am. The apartment is right near all the major landmarks of Ho Chi Minh city in District 1. We got in at 11pm and didn't get settled in bed until around 1am our host took us to get SIM cards for our phones and a meal. (Will send you guys our vietnamese numbers soon! ) I'm feeling a little homesick already but that's probably from traveling so much before hand and will probably dissipate when I start teaching.
So on to how we got here! We left our wonderful Airbnb hosts in L.A. around 9am and took a car to the airport, got checked in with ANA and had lunch before boarding our first flight to Tokyo. The plane was huge of course and the economy class was some of the nicest I've ever experienced. I couldn't sleep on the plane (it was still daytime in the USA until around the end hour of the flight) but Brian passed out for most of the 10 hours while I watched movies.
We got off the plane in Tokyo and wandered through the airport terminal. Narita is pretty small for an airport (at least the terminal we were in) and we got to see some typical Japanese things like the drink vending machines, complicated toilets, and gift shops. We had some ramen and then got ready to board for HCMC. I slept almost the whole way to Vietnam and was super tired on our arrival. We made it!!
I have a meeting with my school on Monday 28th today is Saturday the 25th so I should begin teaching very soon!
